Legal notice

This page identifies the person responsible for plainhvac.com, as required of information society services under Belgian law (Code of Economic Law, Book XII). Last updated: 1 October 2026.

Who publishes this site

plainhvac.com is published by Riduan El Hajjouji, a private individual resident in Belgium, acting in his own name.

  • Postal address: Chaussée de Ninove 600, 1070 Anderlecht, Brussels, Belgium
  • Email: hello@plainhvac.com
  • Person responsible for the content published here: Riduan El Hajjouji

The site is operated by a private individual and not by a company. It is not registered with the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises and has no VAT number, because it sells nothing: no goods, no services, no subscriptions, no sponsored placements and no paid links. Its only revenue is programmatic advertising, described on the advertising disclosure page. If that status changes, this page will be updated before it does.

What this site is, and is not

plainhvac.com publishes editorial guides on domestic heating, cooling and ventilation. It is a publication, not a trade business. It does not install, repair, inspect, commission or sell equipment, does not employ technicians, and does not act as an intermediary between readers and contractors.

Nothing here is professional advice on your particular installation. The guides describe typical cases, cite manufacturer documentation and published research, and are written to help you work out whether you need a qualified person and what to ask them. They cannot inspect your building, your equipment or your electrical supply, and no website can. Where a job stops being something a homeowner may lawfully do — which differs between the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and the EU — the guides say so and stop with it.

Decisions you take on the basis of what you read here remain yours. Work on refrigerant circuits, gas appliances and fixed electrical installations is regulated in every market this site writes for, and must be carried out by a person qualified under the rules that apply where you live.

Accuracy and corrections

Every cost or performance figure carries a label stating whether it was measured, quoted or sourced, together with a date and the region it applies to. The method behind that is set out on the editorial standards page.

Articles on mini-splits and heat pumps are reviewed by Musta El Hajjouji, a certified air conditioning installer with twenty-five years in the trade. Articles on ducted central systems are not reviewed by him and rest on manufacturer documentation and published research; the about page sets out which is which.

If something published here is factually wrong, write to hello@plainhvac.com and it will be corrected. Corrections that change an article are noted on the article with the date.

Copyright

The text, diagrams, tables and photographs on this site are protected by copyright and belong to Riduan El Hajjouji, or to the person credited in the caption, unless stated otherwise. Quoting a short passage with attribution and a link is fine and needs no permission. Reproducing a diagram or a table, or republishing an article in whole or in substantial part, does: ask at the address above, and the answer is usually yes with attribution and a link.

Where an illustration was generated rather than photographed, the page says so beneath it.

Links to other sites

This site links to manufacturer documentation, standards bodies, regulators and published research. Those sites are outside its control, and linking to one is not an endorsement of everything else on it. The same applies to the destinations of advertisements, which are selected automatically by the advertising network and not by this site.

Personal data

How personal data is collected and processed, on what legal basis, and what rights you have over it, is set out in the privacy policy. The data controller is Riduan El Hajjouji, at the address and email above. Complaints may be addressed to the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels.

Applicable law

This site is published from Belgium and Belgian law applies to it, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules in the country where a reader is habitually resident. The courts of Belgium have jurisdiction over any dispute relating to the site, again without prejudice to any mandatory rule that gives a consumer the right to sue in their own country.
