Who is responsible
plainhvac.com is operated by Riduan El Hajjouji, established in Belgium. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation, that makes me the data controller for this site.

Because this site is operated from within the European Union, the GDPR applies to all processing described below, wherever in the world you are reading from.
What I collect directly
There are no user accounts and nothing is sold here directly. I receive personal data only when you send it — by email, through a contact form, or by leaving a comment (covered separately below). It is used solely to reply to you, kept no longer than necessary for that purpose, and deleted on request.

These providers act under their own privacy terms. Google is established outside the EEA, so using its analytics and advertising products involves transferring data to the United States. Those transfers rely on the safeguards Google publishes for its products, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where applicable.
Cookies and consent
Cookie consent on this site is handled by CookieAdmin. Analytics and advertising cookies are not set until you accept them. Only cookies strictly necessary to serve the site are used before that point.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by reopening the cookie panel — the cookie icon fixed at the bottom-left of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and refusing cookies restricts nothing you can read here.
Affiliate links
This site is not currently enrolled in any affiliate programme and sets no affiliate tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy and the advertising disclosure will be updated before any commissioned link is published.
Comments
When you leave a comment on an article, the following is collected and stored: the name and email address you enter, the comment text itself, your IP address and your browser user-agent string. The last two are collected automatically by WordPress and are used to detect spam.
The legal basis is your consent, given by choosing to submit the comment. Your name and comment are published; your email address and IP are not, and are visible only to the site administrator.
All comments are held for manual approval before they appear. Approved comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that the discussion thread stays intelligible, and are deleted on request — write to the address above.
If you tick the box to save your details, WordPress sets cookies in your browser so you do not have to retype them next time. These are a convenience for you, last up to a year, and can be declined without affecting your ability to comment.
One thing worth knowing that most sites do not disclose: WordPress may send an anonymised hash of your email address to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture associated with it. If you do, the picture is displayed beside your comment.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to receive your data in a portable form. Write to hello@plainhvac.com and I will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how a request is handled, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Residents of California and other US states with equivalent laws: personal information is not sold as those laws define it. Advertising partners may process data for targeted advertising, and you can opt out through the cookie panel.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and data is not knowingly collected from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes materially the date above will be updated and the change noted.
